Our Story
"Have a good heart, developed mind, and strong body." Mark J. Brophy
Do you want to see a new generation of confident upstanding young leaders? Perhaps you think this is vital to our future? The Brophy’s Youth Development Fund (‘BYDF’) can help you with this goal. This foundation was created to embody the spirit of great adult mentors such as Mark Brophy and Rex Atwood who inspired many in youth organizations.

Purpose
The purpose of BYDF is to encourage young people to be physically active, experience the outdoors, develop leadership skills, and make ethical and moral choices. Our goal is to support physical and mental fitness, independence and self-confidence in today’s youth.
Core Activities
Our core activities involve financial support to allow young people to attend outdoor outing activities in youth programs. These outing activities can range from overnight stays to weeklong summer camps. The outing activity will allow a youth to experience camping or other outdoor activities away from home. Other core activities will include financial support for youth programs that provide leadership training, character development, citizenship, or physical fitness.
Conditions for Receiving Benefits
Financial assistance will be given to the family of youths not able to provide financial support for outing or character development programs. Financial hardship will be demonstrated before assistance is provided. We also will recognize and reward youths who excel in leadership, citizenship, and volunteerism, with scholarships and awards.
Outcomes of BYDF’s Charitable Activities
-
To provide financial assistance to youths to participate in outdoor outing activities.
-
To provide financial support to youth programs that provide leadership training, character development, citizenship, or physical fitness.
-
